Finding and acquiring a 1981 BMW M1 is not an easy task to complete. That’s because BMW only built about 400 road-going versions of the iconic M1 supercar between the years 1978 and 1981, which have become accepted as a rare collectibles in the automotive community.
The engine is the brand’s famous mid-mounted, 3.5-liter fuel-injected inline six-cylinder, which just so happens to retain the matching numbers from the factory. As for the mileage, well the speedometer isn’t quite up to snuff, therefore the reading on the odometer can’t be verified. The mileage won’t be much of an issue, however, when you’re cruising down the Pacific coast highway with the windows down, and with Def Leppard’s greatest hits at full volume.
