From what I remember as an undergrad wandering the streets in one of the most surreal years on record, the year in music 2001 was just Daft Punk’s “One More Time” on repeat. But there had to be more than that, yeah? Of course there was.
We got follow-up albums from bands we already knew were great (hi there, Amnesiac, YHF, and White Blood Cells) and a certain debut changed everything (oh hey, Is This It? Apparently yes it is). The sounds of 20 years ago sound as relevant today as then, why? We don’t know. So we just stop worrying and push the green play button.
