But then The Irishman starts playing (with a killer Five Satins do-wop tune) and you’re like, Oh wait, they do make movies like that. Martin Scorsese makes movies like that. And he punctuates those movies with songs that strengthen and intensify what was already strong and intense (Dropkick Murphys in The Departed, the three-peat of “Gimme Shelter”).
