After five years spent perfecting the art of homebrewing — and developing an unhealthy obsession with Brian Adams — Jeff, Joel, and Jonathan (a.k.a. the Monday Night Brewing founders), launched with two beers in 2011. One, was Eye Patch Ale, a crisp IPA (now retired), and the other, the award-winning Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale.
Full-bodied (but not overpowering), the roasty Scotch Ale features toffee, prune and light chocolate malt aromas with a deep mahogany color and a robust head. A sensory delight with a moderately low bitterness, it’s a tad sweet, but not obnoxiously so. The brand calls it a “malty bombshell of a beer” and this “wee heavy” can be paired with sweet or savory snacks and is perfect for a hot summer evening spent under the stars.
