Whatever you’re into — beer, surfing, Airstreams — there’s a hotel built around your proclivity. In this case, it’s gaming, and considering the massive worldwide, multi-billion-dollar appeal of video games, it can’t be contained to just one hotel. Breaking ground this year in Phoenix, Atari Hotels are planned in Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, and San Francisco.
Looking at the concept drawings from architecture giant Gensler, you’ll basically be walking onto the set of your favorite sci-fi stories. Blade Runner is the first that comes to mind. Definitely some Fifth Element in there and no doubt to the delight of gamers, a bit of Cyberpunk 2077.
The hotels will have stylized rooms, immersive mixed-reality entertainment, retro gaming arcades, esports venues, and of course restaurants, bars, and clubs that won’t bat an eye when you enter in full cosplay. No firm dates have been set but the Las Vegas hotel is expected to open its doors in 2022. No word yet if they’ve figured out how to make it always night and always lightly raining, but they’ve got some time.
