From the crown guards ushered in by this specific generation, to its starkly striking matte dial, this Rolex GMT-Master is an excellent specimen of the 1675 reference. Though 1675s debuted in the 1950s, they ran for a famously long time, until 1980, putting this 1968 version quintessentially somewhere in the middle.
Notably, it runs on the trusty 1575 movement, upgraded from the 1560 to have a higher frequency, with hacking, and a build so strong it’s probably not even close to the end of its life, even decades out. The cosmopolitan traveler’s watch, GMT-Masters are one model that develop character with age, especially as the Pepsi bezel stays vivid next to the dial’s patination.
