Some cover songs deliver a note-for-note homage to the greatness of the original (Weezer’s “Africa” comes to mind). Others use the source material as a road map, driving their own sound across the same path (say, Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah”). Then there’s the song that merely heard the story of the original, and reconstructed it from memory (Devo’s “Satisfaction,” perhaps). All flavors of cover songs are here, and they all taste great.
